Historic St. George's Church began in 1889 and is the oldest public building still in use in Banff.

We welcome you to worship with us in this place of incredible beauty.

St. George's-in-the-Pines is a parish within the Anglican Diocese of Calgary, Anglican Church of Canada (which includes the world-wide Anglican Communion - Church of England, the Episcopal Church of the USA, the Nippon Sei Ko Kwai in Japan and many other national churches throughout the world).

Since 2001 the Anglican Church of Canada has been in relationship with inter-communion churches, within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.

Over the years, St. George's church building has been kept open during the day for visitors and those seeking a quiet sanctuary for prayer. A fire took place at the property in 1990, deliberately set by vandals, which damaged the sanctuary and floor and this did not change this policy.

Today, a plaque on the door reads

"A holy place of prayer and hospitality for all people and races. Open for prayer most days from 10 to 5. Please respect this holy place."

St. George’s is pleased to host frequent concerts; often in partnership with the Banff Centre.

Consider using our facility for your wedding, music or drama presentation.  We have seating for around 200, superb acoustics, and a staff that will help you with logistics, promotion etc.
