THE MUSIC
Music for the wedding ceremony creates a beautiful ambience to enhance the loving intentions of this special occasion.
MUSIC SELECTIONS
There are many beautiful traditional and contemporary light classical and clerical selections. Special choices may also be played. Below are some of the more popular selections played on the harp, organ and church bells at St. George's-in-the-Pines.
To hear each of the following selections, please click on the Title of each selection below.
Harp, Organ and Voice all performed by Jan Pearce. Music above was recorded by the Music and Sound Department of The Banff Centre.
PRELUDE
This is music played usually for 15 to 20 minutes before the bride's entrance. It serves to set the atmosphere, give your guests enjoyment as they wait and to enhance the anticipation of the ceremony.
PROCESSIONAL
A special musical selection is sometimes considered for the bridal attendants with larger entourages. The bridal processional is the most important music of the ceremony as it announces her entrance and signals the guests to stand.
SIGNING OF THE REGISTRY
This offers an opportunity for a special musical selection, as it reflects the joyous mood of the moment and helps to sustain a gap in the ceremony as the requisite paperwork is completed.
COMMUNION
Music helps to keep a flow to the communion.
RECESSIONAL
This accompanies the couple as they make their first passage as newlyweds. The "Wedding March" has been the traditional favourite though other selections are also perfectly suitable for this moment.
INSTRUMENTS
The wedding service at St. George's has been traditionally supported by the organ. You may choose to augment this in some degree with the lovely and romantic sound of the celtic harp or the pedal harp. This could be for a special spot such as the signing of the registry, a few numbers preceding the ceremony, or for as much as the entire service.
BOOKING AND CONSULTATION
Bookings are recommended as soon as possible, as the musician is often required for other services the same day. Jan Pearce, of Avalon Harp invites you to her studio for a complimentary consultation where you can discuss the many musical decisions involved in the wedding ceremony. The rehearsal may be attended for an extra fee.
MUSICIAN FEES
Information on fees will be given you when you contact us. Fee are to be paid in advance, or brought to the rehearsal and left with the officiating clergy.
OTHER MUSICIANS
There are other options for your musicians. You may want to arrange for an instrumental group to play. These are important details for early planning.
May God bless you richly in your life together....
